From the moment the workshop starts smiles begin to spread across parents faces as our consultant skilfully draws out the good and bad parenting experiences from which we can all learn. The atmosphere created by the consultant is relaxed and supportive. Parents feel comfortable sharing ideas among friends and applying the concepts directly to their family. The open discussion helps parents learn new and practical ways to improve their interaction with their family members that they can apply straight away.

Family Communication Workshop content includes:

• Understanding the communication components including body language
• Exploring our typical communication with children
• Learning how to listen more effectively
• Discussing the importance of Praise and Timing
• Learn the art of constructive criticism
• Recognise our different communication needs and styles
• Understand the importance of adapting your own style.

Each parent has their own workshop booklet. Throughout the workshop parents can identify specific behaviours they are going to Stop doing, Start doing and Continue doing. This becomes their individual action plan to help ensure these great common sense strategies are applied once the parent is back in the home environment.
