Myprofile Style Guide
Myprofile uses four behavioural identifiers, and any
four in a number of combinations can be used to define a
person’s behavioural profile.
What style are you? Find out now at:
www.myprofile.com.au
DRIVERS
Decisive and Direct
Drivers have a high desire to achieve. They are
self-motivated, independent, and highly individualistic.
They like a fast paced environment. They enjoy the
competition and the challenge. Most of all they want to
be in control. They want to do it their way. Drivers are
action-oriented people who want to do it now.
PROMOTERS
Outgoing and Optimistic
Promoters are independent out going individuals who like
socialising and meeting people. They are enthusiastic
and optimistic. They enjoy conversations and being the
centre of attention. They make friends easily and are
inspirational leaders and popular work colleagues.
Promoters have a gift of working with people.
SUPPORTERS
Sympathetic and Accommodating
Supporters are dependable, practical and kind people.
They’re patient. They want to help others. They prefer
to work in teams and they dislike rapid change. They
prefer a secure and constant environment that’s free of
conflict. Supporters are very family oriented and keep
the world running.
ADMINISTRATORS
Precise and Reserved
Administrators are perfectionists who look to systems, rules
and order within a structured environment. They are
accurate and precise. They are reserved, detailed and
logical and follow the rules and standards. Administrators
are creative people who are very good at problem
solving. |

“In
every society, there are ‘human benchmarks’ – certain
individuals whose behaviour becomes a model for everyone else –
shining examples that others admire and emulate. We call these
individuals ‘class acts’.
- DAN
SULLIVAN, Cofounder and president of The Strategic Coach, Inc.
Be a class act.
Become a great manager.

The art of being a good
manager or boss is one part instinct and four parts skill or
knowledge. The effect a good boss can have on individuals and
organisations is so large that the subject has engaged the
brightest brains in the business – people like Peter Drucker,
Jeffrey J Fox, Chan Kim, Stephen Covey, and Brian Tracy.
A good boss sets priorities,
establishes the authority to lead, learns to be fair and reward
superior performance, helps struggling employees improve, and
motivates people to achieve more than they thought they could.

Executive Edition.
Why should anyone be led by you?
It’s
well documented that a manager has more impact upon the
retention of an employee than any other individual or any
benefit within an organisation. In fact, survey after survey
confirms that employees leave more jobs due to the
ineffectiveness of a manager rather than to the benefits of an
organisation.
A great place to work always has great
managers – not by accident but by design. An on okay place to
work can keep afloat with great managers – until the manager
leaves. But an organisation with great benefits and compensation
and poorly trained managers has a fatal black hole.
If you peer into this back hole, please
be careful. Don’t get sucked in. You will quickly see what
happens when a manager can’t communicate effectively, can’t
coach or mentor, and who views loyalty as obedience. It’s not a
pretty picture.
How are your coaching and management
skills. Do you have a good understanding of the different styles
in your team and what motivates each style to achieve and
succeed? Do you know how to coach and mentor (and manage) each
style.
Before you throw hundreds of dollars into
the black hole of employing ineffective managers, why not
consider using MYCOACH to give you the knowledge to become a
great manager and help others in your organisation to be the
same.

What kind of leader are you?
You
are a leader if someone is following you. This could be as
simple as one person watching you and following your example and
encouragement, to being a leader in your home, your community,
your workplace or even your nation.
Leadership can take many forms, but
typically it often involves managing people – one of the most
difficult of all tasks. It means co-coordinating and motivating
the actions of others to achieve a common goal.
The style of leadership taken by any
leader is usually determined by the personality and motivational
values of that person. They are who they are, as a personality,
and that has a strong influence on the way they lead and
communicate with others.
The style of personality traits has been
on going for centuries, and there is a great deal of agreement
in the conclusions and findings of personality characteristics.
Every personality style has particular talents and skills that
lend themselves to good leadership. Any form of leadership
however, is greatly enriched and enhanced if it is able to draw
on the strengths and knowledge of the other styles.
A leader who has a strong DRIVER
personality style is personally committed and dedicated to the
goal. They work hard, and expect their team to do the same.
They lead from a place of belief that the work is important, and
has to be done right. DRIVER leaders are responsible and have
high standards. It can be a challenge for them to delegate, as
they can’t be sure the job will be done as well as they
themselves could do it. DRIVER leaders value tradition – the
ways of the past are proven ways, and so do not take well to new
ideas unless they are well proven to have potential.
Action is the focus of the PROMOTER
leader. The PROMOTER leader leads by example, setting the
standard to follow. They are great trouble shooters and
diplomats. Their approach is ‘Show me the problem, give me the
tools and let’s get on with it”. They, themselves learn best by
doing, rather than manuals and verbal instructions. PROMOTER
management style can be quite authoritarian and abrupt as they
are impatient with opposition, and expect their directions to be
followed. Their competitive, entrepreneurial spirit makes them
excel in negotiation. Above all PROMOTER leaders welcome change
believing that the old ways can always be improved on. A new
project represents adventure, a challenge and potential fun, all
of which the PROMOTER personality thrives on.
Leaders with a strong SUPPORTER
personality are motivated by their commitment to the people
involved, and a strong sense of community. It is important
to them to nurture those in their care, and see the best come
out in each member of the group. Group participation and
communication is of primary importance for a SUPPORTER leader.
They have a democratic style of management, valuing the input of
the employees and team workers. They like to be liked and
appreciated and will avoid conflict and confrontation if
possible.
The strong ADMINISTRATOR/ANALYSER
leadership style sees the detail. ANALYSER leaders excel in
strategy. They bring intellect, ingenuity and design into the
leadership role. They research and analyse facts and
concepts, constantly looking for improvements for working
smarter rather than harder. The strong ANALYSER leader has a
love of learning. They often lead by instructing and teaching
principles and methods that others can apply. Facts and
information are all important to the ANALYSER leader, and they
pay little attention to the feelings and relationships. For
ANALYSERS, the facts speak for themselves, so why all the fuss!
Their leadership style is focused on the vision, and analysis of
tasks and information.
Every leader has combination of all
four personalities, but one will always be the stronger, more
natural way to operate in. A leaders style may also be a blend
of their main strength, combined with their second strongest
style.
A wise leader will understand the
strengths and weaknesses of their personal leadership style and
the styles of others, and use team differences to bring balance
and greater efficiency in meeting the shared goal.
She’s a Star!
To the Myprofile Team
It’s 3 months since we employed Paulette
and we are pretty excited about how it has worked out - she is a
star! The personality profile she undertook with you was very
useful, not only to help with our final decision to employ
Paulette but more importantly it gave a very clear guide on what
her training expectations would be.
We designed our training with her needs
in mind which ensured we could efficiently and effectively get
her through a base level of training and quickly integrated into
her working role.
We will certainly utilise Myprofile for
future recruiting and training. Thanks for your guidance on this
and your encouragement to try this as a solution to our
uncertainty at the time.
